Yanukovych: Effective interregional cooperation allows Ukraine and Russia to develop promising directions of partnership
Effective interregional cooperation is the tool allowing Ukraine and Russia to develop promising directions of bilateral partnership dynamically, President Viktor Yanukovych said at the Second Ukrainian-Russian Interregional Economic Forum in Donetsk. «Currently, interregional cooperation is one of the most dynamic and promising areas of Russian-Ukrainian partnership,» Viktor Yanukovych stressed, ForUm learned from the presiential press office.
The President said he and his Russian counterpart have made positive remarks about the significant growth of trade turnover between Ukraine and Russia, which exceeded $ 50 billion this year, for the first time in the history of our countries’ relations. «Our regions make a great contribution into this cause. Interregional cooperation reaches a whole new modern level,» he said.
The President drew attention to both sides’ mutual interest in strengthening cooperation between regions. «The decision-making environment typical for interregional level, I would say, is much simpler than that at the level of the states… Such an approach to establishing effective contacts should be an example for the central government,» Viktor Yanukovych said.
