Yatseniuk: expected IMF aid consists of stabilization of State finances and State payment balance
02.01.2015 09:45 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
While speaking within the December 30, 2014 press conference, the Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said he hoped that as a result of negotiations with the IMF mission, which is to arrive to Ukraine on January 8, an agreement on the provision of the next tranche will be reached, Government Portal reports.
«We are expecting the arrival of the mission. The mission has already had basic figures, haw much we need. The purpose of this financial program is the stabilization of State finances and the stabilization of State payment balance,» the Head of Government said.
«I’m certain this program will be launched. I’m confident that we will have to revise the budget. I’m confident that we will have to move further concerning optimization, including social policy. I’m confident that this will enable us to pay our foreign debts. I’m sure that it will increase the volume of gold and foreign exchange reserves. I am confident that it will restore confidence in the banking system, and not millions, but billions of dollars in cash that are in the vaults of commercial banks, return on deposits from basements, banks will receive the loan resources, confidence in the banking system and currency will be restored. And we will have economic growth gradually,» the PM noted.
As to him, Ukraine received the previous 2 tranches «not for beautiful eyes and not for good English,» but "for the strict fulfillment of each criterion, which was prescribed in the Memorandum between Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund: «This is the answer to the question whether we hold reforms.»
Besides, the Head of Government stressed that expectations will not be deceived, only «if you sit, and you do nothing and expect that someone will come to us and help us.»
«And if we’re going to make complicated, but the right changes and reforms, then people will see that we are doing something, not, perhaps successfully, as anyone would like, not so fast, but we are doing it. And then they will have the moral right to talk to their taxpayers in Berlin, whether in Brussels or in Washington that the country should have support,» the PM said.
