Putin: Russia to avoid negative economic trends

The Russian authorities will do their best to avoid any negative economic trends in world and European economics, President Vladimir Putin said speaking at the Russia Calling! investment forum in Moscow on Tuesday. He pointed out that the Russian authorities were taking into consideration serious risks associated with the indefinite situation on foreign markets, Voice of Russia reports referring to RIA.
Putin expressed concern over recession in some European countries.
The president also pointed out that social tension was growing in some countries, which had a negative impact on their economies.
Putin confirmed that stamping out inflation remained one of the Russian government’s priorities.
He mentioned that last year’s inflation rate in Russia was 6.1%, which was the lowest level for the last 20 years. The president added that by 2014 the inflation rate should not exceed 5%.
