Medvedev hopes for greater Customs Union integration

President Dmitry Medvedev said he hopes that the leaders of Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus, the three countries which form the Customs Union, will sign agreements on further integration on Friday.
On Thursday, Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin received a delegation of pensioners and war veterans in the Kremlin.
«This is a very important step and the time has come for us to make it,» the president said. He said he was confident that the Customs Union had bright prospects.
«Now we are as close as never before and we will become even closer,» he said.
On Friday, Medvedev is to meet his Belarusian and Kazakh counterparts Alexander Lukashenko and Nursultan Nazarbayev. The leaders will discuss the issues of setting up a Eurasian economic union.
