Tymoshenko forecasts Jul 0.4% deflation

As to Cabinet forecast, 3Q 2008 Ukrainian deflation will be 0.5%, reported Premier Yuliya Tymoshenko Sat (Jul 12). As to forecast, in Jul 2008 prices will decline by 0.4% (0.3% – in Aug 2008) and grow by 0.2% in Sept 2008. As to Cabinet, 4Q 2008 inflation will reach 0.9% (what means 2008 second half-year sale prices growth rates will slow to 0.4%). Thus, Oct 2008 inflation is expected to be 0.4% (Nov 2008 – 0.2%, Dec 2008 – 0.3%). Taking into account these figures, 2008 yearly inflation will total 15.96%. It is to be admitted, within last few years Jan-Aug deflations were rare; autumn average prices growth rates were 1-1.5%. Since 1991, within Nov and Dec prices used to grow not slower as correspondingly 0.4% and 0.9%. It is to be reminded, as State Statistic Committee data, Jun 2008 inflation equaled to 0.8% (Jan-Jun 2008 – 15.5%). On Jun 27/08 meeting, Cabinet worsened 2008 inflation growth forecast from 9.6% to 15.3% (on Jul 05/08 meeting – from 15.3% to 15.9%). 2007 inflation totaled 16.6% (2006 – 11.6%).
