Meat import up 38% to 107,000 tons over January-June

In January-June meat import has increased by 38% to 107,000 tons against January-June 2006, reports the Agrarian Ministry referring to data of the customs service.
Poultry and byproducts meat import constituted 73% or 79,000 tons at UAH 2,048 per ton; frozen pork 10% or 20,000 tons at UAH 4,567 per ton, beef 4% or 4,100 tons at UAH 4,260 per ton.
Cattle byproducts imports comprised 4% or 3,900 tons at UAH 3,997 per ton.
Companies implementing investment projects in free economic zones and priority development territories under give-and-take scheme have imported 96% of meat raw materials.
As to Agro Perspectiva earlier report, the Cabinet of Ministers might prolong ban on import of meat goods made on commission by the year end.
