Over EUR2 milliard invested into Ukrainian green energy

As of this year Jan-Sept, over EUR2 milliard have been invested in the Ukrainian green energy capacities’ development, Ukrinform says referring to the Ukrainian State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving report.
«Over EUR2 milliard were invested into over 2,500 MW of new renewable energy capacities commissioned within Ukraine within the first nine months of the current year,» the report reads.
Thus, in part, thanks to the investments, the following new facilities were created: with a total capacity of over 2,000 MW - solar power plants; almost 400 MW - wind farms; about 120 MW - solar power plants of households (within the first six months of the current year), 24 MW - biogas plants; 13 MW - small hydropower facilities; 4 MW - biomass facilities.
«Thus, due to these new facilities, the total Ukrainian capacity of renewable electricity doubled within the nine months: from about 2,300 MW as of the end 2018 up to about 5,000 MW as of Oct 1, 2019,» Head of the State Energy Efficiency Serghiy Savchuk admits.
It is to be noted, since the 2019 beginning, the share of renewable energy within the total Ukrainian electricity output has grown 1.7 times, amounting to 3.3% (within the 2019 Q2).
