This year, no sugar beets’ crop catastrophic decline is expected within the Cherkasy region, Ukrainian National Association of Sugar Producers says referring to the Cherkasy Regional Hydrometeorological Center report.
As to the report, within recent years, the Cherkasy region sugar beets’ sown areas have declined significantly. Besides, conditions for the sugar beets’ cultivation have been also difficult. However, this year Jun and Jul have been rainy what has stimulated sugar beets’ active growth and weight boost. Thus, despite this year Aug early Sept having been hot and draughty, one sugar beet average weight has become up against many last years.
In meanwhile, as to the Cherkasy Regional Hydrometeorological Center forecast, this year the regional sugar beets’ crop average yield is expected to be 430 metric centners per ha (slightly up against last year 404 metric centners per ha, but still not a record high).
