Ukrainian sugar beet sowing within full swim
20.04.2018 17:31 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
As of this year, the Ukrainian sugar beet sowing campaign was delayed for 1015 days due to adverse weather conditions; however, despite of that, agrarians have already started sugar beet sowing, with sugar beet sowing campaign having now reached its highest activity,
Ukrainian National Association of Sugar Producers says referring to Vasyl Dolinskiy, Association expert on resources’ market s and agriculture, report .
As to him, as of this year Apr 18, Ukrainian agrarians have already sown sugar beet at 150,000 ha.
«Despite all the difficulties, agrarians are certain to have sown their sugar beet until Apr 25, as now agrarians are sowing daily 57% of total areas planned to be sown,» he admits.
As to him, within this year, over half of all Ukrainian sugar beet will be sown by agrarian firms and companies which cooperate with Astarta-Kyiv Agricultural Holding, sugar plants owned by Radekhivskiy Tsukor Ltd and Ukrprominvset-Agro. Now, they have already sown their sugar beet at over 70% of their sown areas, and they are going to finish sowing until Apr 23.
Dolinskiy admits all Ukrainian agrarians have already started sugar beet sowing.
It is to be reminded, as to the Ukrsugar Association forecast, this year the Ukrainian sugar beet sown total area won’t exceed 280,000 ha what means that agrarians this year are going to reduce their sugar beet sown areas by 13% against last year mainly due to sugar prices having fallen on domestic/global exchange markets.
