Groisman, Sefcovic discuss ways of strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and EU within energy sector

As of today, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groisman have had a meeting with Vice-President of the European Commission for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič. The parties discussed further cooperation between Ukraine and the EU within the energy policy, in particular reforming the energy sector and establishment of the Ukrainian National Energy Efficiency Fund, Government Portal reports.
As to the report, both Groisman and Šefčovič have assured of their readiness to complete their work and to sign within short time a new Memorandum of understanding on cooperation in energy sector.
Reportedly, Groisman has announced that the Ukrainian Government is finalizing work on the Ukrainian Energy Strategy.
In turn, Vice-President of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič has welcomed the intention of the Ukrainian Government to complete the relevant Energy Strategy and expressed the EU commitment to support this activity.
As to the report, the PM informed that there had been submitted a package of bills to the Verkhovna Rada that should be approved, in particular on the national regulator and the electricity market. The Ukrainian Government considers these acts a priority and expects the Parliament, from the first day of its new session, will adopt them.
Reportedly, Groisman and Šefčovič have also agreed to combine the efforts of Ukraine and the European Commission to conduct all necessary procedures to obtain a US$500 million loan from the World Bank for Ukraine.
Reportedly, the parties also raised an issue of preparation for the upcoming autumn-winter period.
As to the report, Vice-President of the European Commission welcomed the Ukrainian Government decision to pump up into Ukrainian underground storage facilities about 3 milliard cubic meters of gas over earlier planned.
