Scientists forecast 2006 winter wheat crop lowering from 17.7 mn MT down to 11.3-12.2 mn MT

As to Hydraulic Engineering and Melioration Institute (Ukrainian National Academy of Sciences) experts forecasts, this year winter wheat crop is likely to decline to 11.312.2 mn MT (down against last year 17.68 mn MT). As to experts, this year winter wheat yielding capacity is possible to be 2527 metric centners per ha. As earlier reported, Ukrainian Hydrometeorology Center experts consider this year winter wheat production can reach 1112.5 mn MT. Ministry of Agrarian Policy expects this year winter wheat crop will total 1314 mn MT (Ministry experts motivate expected crop decline with sown areas partial destruction). 2005 wheat crop had grown to 18.699 mn MT (in terms of weight after additional processing), up 6.7% against 2004, with wheat average yield equaling to 28,5 metric centners per ha (down against 31,7 metric centners per ha in 2004). Within 2005 wheat was harvested at total 6,571.000 ha (up as of 5,533.700 ha in 2004). 2005 winter wheat crop equaled to 17.683 mn MT (spring wheat 1.016 mn MT). 2005 grain crop totaled 38.015 mn MT (down against 41.808 mn MT in 2004).
