17.03.2015 09:14 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The administrative measures on the currency market which were prolonged until May 2015 could be canceled earlier if the situation stabilizes, NRCU reports referring to the
Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Valeriya Gontareva.
«Now, administrative measures on the currency market have been introduced for three months. Two weeks and a half have passed. If we see that the situation stabilizes earlier, we will cancel them earlier,» she said in an interview with the ICTV channel late on Mar 15.
She admitted that the measures had been imposed to stabilize the currency market under panic conditions.
Also she stressed that since the new administrative measures had been introduced in late Feb the NBU bought over US$600 million for reserves which could be used if market movements were uncontrolled.
Besides, Gontareva said that the IMF program for 2015 foresees that by the 2015 end the Ukrainian forex reserves are to reach US$17 milliard. She said that the minimum required is US$15.5 milliard.
