Ukrainian, German Presidents discussed prospects of bilateral relations' development

Within his two-day official visit to Germany, President Petro Poroshenko has held a meeting with Federal President of Germany Joachim Gauck in Berlin, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, on the porch of the official residence, the Presidents have walked by the line of warriors of the Honor Guard. The orchestra has performed the anthems of Ukraine and Germany. The Ukrainian Head of State has left a note in the Book of Honored Guests.
Reportedly, within the course of the meeting the President has informed his German colleague on the situation in Donbas and emphasized the need for liberating all the hostages, including director Oleh Sentsov and Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko. The President has drawn the attention of his German colleague to the persecution of the Ukrainian church in the occupied territories. The parties have agreed with the necessity of prolonging and broadening sanctions against Russia.
As to the report, the interlocutors have discussed the prospects of further development of the Ukrainian-German relations. Poroshenko has expressed gratitude for the decision of Germany to provide the assistance to Ukraine in the amount of EUR500 million. Particularly, EUR200 million of that sum is to be the macro-economic assistance.
Reportedly, within the conversation the key attention has been drawn to the priorities of Ukraine on the way of European and Euro-Atlantic integration. Poroshenko has informed that Ukraine was expecting the adoption of the decision on the visa-free regime with the EU during the Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga.
As to the report, Petro Poroshenko has invited his colleague to visit Ukraine at his convenience.
