Ukrainian-Polish intergovernmental consultations chaired by Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Poland commenced

On Monday, Jan 19, Kyiv hosted the beginning of a round of Ukrainian-Polish intergovernmental consultations chaired by Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatseniuk and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Poland Ewa Kopacz, Government Portal reports.
As to the report, the consultations began following the talks with the Prime Minister of Poland in a narrow format.
Reportedly, before the consultations the Head of Ukrainian Government had noted that «it is an event of a high political importance.»
«For the first time in our bilateral relations it is actually a joint meeting with participation of a significant part of officials from Poland as our friendly and brotherly country, and the Government of Ukraine,» Yatseniuk said.
He told that the agenda of the process includes several issues, with the key one the international security and Russian military aggression against Ukraine. There will be also discussed an economic block, in particular cooperation in the energy sector.
Besides, Yatseniuk admitted humanitarian cooperation issue will also be touched upon. The Ukrainian PM expressed his gratitude to the Polish Government for the humanitarian aid, which Ukraine had already received.
As to Yatseniuk, another issue is to be raised is strengthening of cross-border cooperation.
«Cross-border cooperation functions already, but it should be reinforced and it should enable a greater number of our citizens to take advantage of these preferences,» he said.
«We are friendly and brotherly countries, and the level of support that exists in the European Union depends on the firm and open position of our Polish friends, which we really appreciate,» Yatseniuk emphasized.
