As to the report, around 6900 people have already died in West Africa from Ebola, and nearly 20,000 cases of infection have been reported.
Speaking to the media, the UN chief said he wanted to convey a direct and personal message to the people of Liberia.
«The United Nations has stood with your country through challenging times before. We are committed to stand with you now as you face this merciless threat. We will be with you until the outbreak is under control and the country has recovered,» Ban Ki-moon emphasized.
Also, the UN chief added there is reason to be cautiously optimistic that the outbreak can be defeated.
He said the international communitys response strategy is working.
However, he warned now is not the time to ease off as theres still a long way to go to zero cases.
