Poroshenko: Participants of meeting in Normandy format emphasized importance of compliance with Minsk agreements

Participants of the meeting in Normandy format, particularly President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel, President of France Francois Hollande and President of Russia Vladimir Putin, emphasized the importance of fulfilling all Minsk agreements, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
That was stated by the President of Ukraine following the meeting that lasted more than two hours.
«The parties firmly remain in positions of Minsk memorandum and focus their efforts on fulfilling all its provisions,» Petro Poroshenko said.
As to report, one of the important conditions to be fulfilled is holding of extraordinary local elections in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the laws of Ukraine. «Local elections must be held solely under the legislation of Ukraine and on the territory defined by the protocol of September 19,» he stressed.
As to the President, the parties had also reached certain agreements in the issue of energy security. Main parameters of new gas contract between Ukraine and Russia have been harmonized.
«We have a certain moderate progress in the gas issue. We have agreed on main parameters of the agreement. Currently, negotiations on sources to cover the deficit of funds required for its financing are about to be completed,» the Head of State summed up.
