Azarov believes new parliament demonstrates ability to make meaningful and constructive decisions
14.12.2012 16:40 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
While opening the Cabinet meeting on Friday, Prime Minister Azarov said that despite heated debates and even brawls between pro-government and opposition MPs in the first two days of the new parliaments work «this parliament demonstrated its ability to make meaningful and constructive decisions in favour of stability and development», NRCU reports.
Azarov said that the 2013 national budget was the only feasible one under the current economic circumstances. «Under uncertain conditions on external markets and the discriminatory price of imported natural gas, this is the only possible option. Some programs have to be cut or suspended, but still this budget provides for continued economic development and further rises in social payments. Few economies can afford a policy like this. Its principal objective is to keep up the positive trends which we have achieved lately,» Azarov said, admitting that the task was extremely difficult. He said that next year Ukraine would have to pay 9 billion dollars to cover its external debt, the lions share of which 6 billion is loan liabilities to the International Monetary Fund.
