Vinnytsia Imposes State Regulation On Prices For Bread Until 1 August 2003
07.04.2003 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) - The State Administration of the Vinnytsia Region has imposed state regulation on prices for white bread made from flour of the 1st quality and for bread made from wheat and rye flour until 1 August of this year. This is mentioned in a statement released by the Vinnytsia regional administration, the text of which Ukrainian News possesses. The regional administration motivates the decision to impose regulation of prices with its intention to prevent a rise in prices for bread due to destabilization of the grain market and a rise in prices for flour in January to February. In February, prices for bread made from flour of the 1st quality in the Vinnytsia Region consisted of UAH 1.29/kg. As Ukrainian News reported earlier, the State Committee for Material Reserves presently sells grain and flour to regions, which are experiencing shortage of grain, and in all it is going to sell not less than 200,000 tons of grain. Due to a rise in prices for grain and flour in January to February of this year by 20% and more, bread-baking enterprises began to hike prices for their products. The demand of the domestic market in bread-grain consists of 6.3-6.5 million tons annually. (Ukrainian News)
