17.07.2012 09:07 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Companies providing various services in Vladivostok are preparing for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit that will run from the 8th to the 9th of September. Before the summit, Vladivostok will host ministerial, parliamentary, women and youth meetings as part of the forum. Souvenirs with the symbols of the APEC are being prepared for the participants and visitors.
MAN: Among these souvenirs are sweets with views of bridges on the packages and unique gingerbread in individual packages. All these are new products which are being prepared by the factories in Vladivostok especially for the event. Most likely, colourful and extraordinary books and cards that show the beauty of the Far East and the Maritime region will create an impression on the visitors. At present, almost all enterprises are actively preparing for the major international event. The local administration even plans to open a special souvenir fair, says the head of the department of trade at the city administration, Olga Voloshina.
«Tourists favourite place, the beach walkway, is being upgraded. When it is reconstructed, there will definitely be souvenir kiosks. Afterwards, we are planning to open a fair of souvenirs, books, cards and stamps with the symbols of Vladivostok and the APEC. Until recently, the beach walkway was known as a location where local treats were sold,» Olga Voloshina said.
The local authorities attach great importance to the organization of the work of the city’s cafes and restaurants. Public catering is not very developed in Vladivostok, and the administration is doing its best so that visitors enjoy spending their evenings in bars and restaurants. For one, it has been recommended to translate all the menus into English and train the waiters to speak in English. The state of the preparations will be tested within a month, Olga Voloshina said.
«We give one month to the owners of restaurants and bars to upgrade their venues so that visitors feel comfortable in the city. The work of the administration also includes beautification of the city. All this should contribute to making a strong impression on the visitors,» Olga Voloshina added.
The APEC summit in Vladivostok should be held perfectly. Before the summit, contemporary infrastructure will be created in the city. A bridge has already been built across the Strait to link the mainland Vladivostok with Russky Island where the summit will be held, and new hotels are being built. The region’s air control system has been upgraded to meet international standards. Meanwhile, the international airport is capable of receiving and sending up to ten aircraft at the same time.
