Ukrainian Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk has been elected head of the CIS Intergovernmental Council on Agriculture. A respective decision was taken by participants in the 25th meeting of the council, the Ukrainian Agricultural Policy and Food Ministrys press service has reported.
The new chairman of the council said that the councils main attention this year would be paid to the drafting of balances and forecasts for the balances of agricultural products. This year, the Intergovernmental Council will also actively work to organize the logistics and storage of fruits and vegetables. «Today we analyzed the situation and saw that all of our countries produce much more vegetables than they consume. However, consumers receive much less. As a result, this market depends on imports. It is a sign of the lack of logistics, storage technology and experience,» the minister said.
