Tymoshenko demands Ukrainian agrarians mineral fertilizers prices reduction

While speaking on Agrarian-Industrial Complex representatives/regions chiefs Jan 26/09 Kyiv meeting, Premier Yuliya Tymoshenko demanded from Ministries/executive authorities central bodies to decline agrarians mineral fertilizers prices. As to Tymoshenko, Ukrainian 2009 gas purchase price is practically 2 times down against EU similar and therefore country chemical plants should fix adequate sale prices for their ready products made with gas significant volumes usage. “We receive gas at US$228 per 1000 m3 , – what means chemical plants should set proper prices of mineral fertilizers for our agrarians. In what concerns export trade, plants are free to sell at global prices,” declared Premier. Tymoshenko commissioned Ministry of Economics, Ministry of Industrial Policy and State Committee for Prices Control to “once again thoroughly analyze mineral fertilizers production cost price.” “I am sure there are resources to be find,” admitted Premier. Tymoshenko also said Government has instrument to influence country chemical industry, – namely, VAT. “We can oblige chemical plants to fix necessary sale prices,” emphasized Premier. Besides, Tymoshenko stressed it is necessary to elaborate mineral fertilizers sale prices forming algorithm which can assure “minimal profitability, yet not superprofits.”
