Cabinet commissioned regions to purchase 2007 crop 1.8 mn MT grains
05.06.2007 11:55 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Cabinet has charged regions to buy this year crop 1.8 mn MT grains in order to create resources to assure 2007/08 MY domestic market requirement, reported Agrarian-Industrial Complex Vice Premier Viktor Slauta. As to Slauta, State is going to acquire additional 2 mn MT this year crop grains through State operators to form State resources. Thus, State is going to buy in total ≈ 4 mn MT 2007 crop grains. Slauta didn’t specify purchases financial sources; he just said State operators (Agrarian Fund and State Committee for Material Reserves (State Reserve) have enough means for necessary grains purchases. As to Agro Perspective earlier report, since period of State purchases order canceling, State has never succeeded to purchase planned grains volume necessary to form sufficient domestic market reserve. Thus, in 2006, due to having hadn’t agreed with market participants on providing help for State resources forming, Government had introduced wheat, barley and maize export licensing (then quoting). Therefore, Cabinet is quite possible to introduce foreign markets grains export limitations once again in 2007/08 MY. As to Agro Perspective, experts estimate Ukrainian internal market food grain annual requirement as much as 7 mn MT.
