Within Dec 2006 Ukraine had established 600,000 MT barley/500,000 MT maize export quotas until 2006/07 MS end; however, Feb 2007 Government decided to enlarge total grains quota limits over 800,000 MT. Earlier, Government had declared quotas introduction was motivated mainly by domestic prices growth threat caused by grains crop fall/foreign shipments rates boost. End Jan 2007 Volodymyr Makukha, Ukrainian Minister of Economics, said Government would refuse from grains quotas establishing within new MS (2007/08) in case if 2007 grains crop forecast remains positive.
