Lugansk region to raise grains output from 0.85 mn MT up to 1 mn MT in 2007

This year Lugansk region grains crop can reach 1 mn MT (up against last year 0.845 mn MT) in case of favorable weather conditions, reported reported Lugansk Regional State Administration press-service referring to Oleksandr Antipov, Lugansk region Governor. «If winter crops wintering is O.K. and no weather cataclysms occur we shall harvest 1 mn MT grains this year,» says press-service as quoting Antipov. As to Antipov, region is getting ready to spring sowing campaign up to fixed schedule. As of now, region is provided with mineral fertilizers by 90% necessary total; regional fertilizers price is UAH1,032 per MT, down against Ukrainian average. Regional agrarians have already purchased 80% total necessary fuels/lubricants; agrarians actively purchase seeds/herbicides. As to State Statistic Committee preliminary data, Lugansk region 2006 grains crop had fallen to 845,000 MT. As to Committee, Lugansk region 2005 grains crop totaled 1.31 mn MT (2004 1.13 mn MT).
