FAO upgrades this year global grains output forecast
12.11.2018 21:03 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Within this month the FAO experts have suggested this year global grains output will total 2.601 million tons, up 10 million tons against FAO previous month forecast, Ukrinform says referring to the FAO report.
«Due to the latest forecasts by the FAO, the world largest grains output within 2018 will amount to 2,601 million tons, almost 10 million tons up against expected a month earlier but still 57 million tons (2.1%) below the record level of 2017. The main reason for the forecast change is the expected boost of Canada and China wheat output, what will allow to counterbalance the earlier forecasted Australia and the EU wheat output decline,» the report reads.
As to the report, the FAO experts say that the global wheat 2018 total output can reduce to about 728 million tons, down 4.3% against 2017. Besides, the experts say the global feed grains 2018 output will be 1.360 million tons, down 2.2% against 2017.
Also, the FAO experts are sure the global rice 2018 total output will hit 513.0 million tons, up 1.3% against the record 2017. Growth is expected mainly due to the expansion of the global sown areas due to the favorable price conditions.
