IRENA will make it easier for Ukraine to get green projects financing

As of last week, within the Ministerial Roundtable held within the framework of the Eighth Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Abu Dhabi,
parliamentarians, government officials, representatives of financial institutions and business persons from around the world, incl. Ukraine, tackled ways to boost investment into the renewable energy sector, Government Portal reports.
As to the report, IRENA experts have praised the drastic changes within the financing of energy projects within the world over the last few years. They also placed a special emphasis on 2016 year, when investment into new power of clean energy significantly exceeded investment in traditional energy sources. One third of all attracted funding was obtained by China. Moreover, green investments have also boosted within the US and European countries.
As to the report, in turn, representatives of the Ukrainian delegation presented a policy of development of the Ukrainian renewable energy market, focusing on the latest adopted legislative incentives.
It is to be admitted, Serghiy Savchuk, Chairman of Ukrainian State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving, admitted joining the IRENA will allow Ukraine to submit applications to the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development for receiving preferential loans for green projects.
