Ukraine, Turkey to intensify cooperation for a substantial trade turnover boost

As of today, Ukrainian and Turkish delegations headed by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan thoroughly discussed the interaction within the trade, economic and investment spheres and concrete steps for their development, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, while speaking within a meeting with media representatives on the results of the talks, Poroshenko emphasized that within this year Jan-Jun trade turnover between the countries had grown by almost 20%.
«The level of Turkish investments into the Ukrainian economy has significantly grown,» he said.
As to him, Turkey became one of the top 5 Ukrainian trading partners and top 10 foreign investors into Ukraine.
As to the report, within the negotiations, the parties also discussed the cooperation in the energy sector. «Our country has considerable experience and developed scientific and practical base for promoting the development of nuclear energy within Turkey. In particular, this concerns training of Turkish specialists,» Poroshenko noted.
As to him, development and proper use of the transit potential of Ukraine and Turkey is also a promising area. «New air and ferry routes will be created between our country,» he told.
In his turn, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan noted that within 2015, the two Presidents had declared a common goal — to double or triple trade turnover between Ukraine and Turkey by 2023. «We have decided to bring our trade turnover to US$10 milliard as soon as possible,» he said, noting that much work is needed to reach the desired level. In particular, the Turkish President stressed the need to finalize the free trade agreement as soon as possible.
