Ukrainian, Turkish Presidents meeting: Our goal is to enhance strategic partnership

As of today, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has had a meeting with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan who is on an official visit to Kyiv, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
«Today’s meeting takes place in a special historical context, when we celebrate the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Turkey. Over this time we have reached the level of genuine strategic partnership stipulated by the tradition of age-old friendship and common interests,» President Petro Poroshenko noted following the negotiations with the President of Turkey.
«Our goal is to enhance strategic partnership between Ukraine and Turkey. Our goal is to ensure trust, stability, sustainable development and prosperity in the whole region on the basis of respect for international law,» Poroshenko said.
As to the report, the Ukrainian President emphasized that the results of today’s meeting of the High-Level Strategic Council between Ukraine and Turkey, which took place in a «confident and constructive atmosphere», demonstrated a strategic nature of partnership between our countries.
«The meeting of the Strategic Council is a unique opportunity to discuss all the issues of our agenda, as well as to set the direction and the tone of interaction for the near future,» Poroshenko said.
«Our relations with our friend and strategic partner, Ukraine, are developing and deepening day by day,» Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, adding that the relations between the two countries over the past 25 years have been based on «friendship, solidarity and cooperation».
As to the report, both presidents expressed satisfaction with the results of today work, which testify that Ukraine and Turkey are eager and ready to intensify bilateral dialogue and interaction at all levels in a spirit of trust and mutual respect.
