The groats’ prices this year might be reduced
22.07.2003 «Agro Perspectiva» (Kyiv) — This year the prices of the groats are probable to be reduced as compared with the prices of 2002. That was declared by the Ukrainian Vice-President on Questions of the Agrarian-Industrial Complex, Ivan Kyrylenko. Speaking in the Parliament today about the present-day situation on the Ukrainian food market, Ivan Kyrylenko declared, that the harvesting has begun in Ukraine and it is now going on in six southern regions of Ukraine. According to him, the first goods parties of the grain of the new harvest will be directed for the food production, including the groats’ production. The Vice-President reported, that the internal market saturation with this group of goods is to be completed in August, and in August the prices are to be fixed on the level acceptable for the consumer. Kyrylenko assured, as well, that it is possible to expect the reduction in prices of buckwheat, millet and rice in comparison with the level of the year 2002, taking into account the increase of the area under cultivation of these crops as compared with the last year.
