20.01.2017 09:17 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Three months after Hurricane Matthew hit Haiti, the number of people facing hunger and food insecurity within the most affected areas has declined from one million to 400,0000, UN Radio says referring to the WFP (UN World Food Programme) new study.
As to the study, Haitian peoples capacity to feed themselves and their families has improved.
Besides, the study also says aid agencies need to continue providing assistance in the hurricane-hit areas, but also in places where levels of food insecurity are high, including the northern provinces of the country, the agency said.
As to the study, the humanitarian community in Haiti urgently needs US$113 million to support food security and agriculture within 2017.
