Obesity and overweight on the rise within Latin America, the Caribbean

Obesity and overweight are on the rise throughout Latin America and the Caribbean with the exception of Haiti, Paraguay and Nicaragua, UN Radio says referring to the new report issued jointly by the FAO (UN Food and Agriculture Organization) and the PAHO (Pan American Health Organization).
As to the report, overweight and obesity are defined as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that may impair health.
The report says about 360 million people or 58% of the people residing in Latin America and the Caribbean are overweight.
Reportedly, obesity affects 140 million people with the highest rates in the Caribbean countries of Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, and Antigua and Barbuda.
