Zubko believes further reforms require changes to the Constitution
25.06.2015 19:13 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Further reforms in the country require amendments to the Constitution. This primarily refers to the most critical state reform decentralization, Government Portal says referring to the Ukrainian
Vice Prime Minister Minister of Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Gennadiy Zubko report at a press conference held on Thurs in Kyiv.
«Only amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine can guarantee successful implementation of the reform. The Venice Commission has previously given a favorable assessment of a draft Constitution. I am hopeful that this fact makes the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada decide and support amendments that will fundamentally change the country for the better,» Zubko said.
As to him, within a new Constitution the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko proposes to give the maximum authority to local government that will enable them to pursue a most-independent-of-Kyiv policy.
«The delay in the adoption of amendments to the Constitution puts in jeopardy further implementation of reforms,» Zubko underlined.
As to Zubko, the current state of implementation of reforms, according to international experts, NGOs, the project office of reforms at the National Reform Council, makes up 46% out of the planned in 2015.
