State Emergencies Service: 43,000 people flee eastern Ukraine

Nearly 43,000 people, including almost 16,000 children, have left the area of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) in eastern Ukraine for other regions in the country, NRCU says referring to the Head of the Ukrainian State Emergencies Service Serhiy Bochkovsky report at a Thursday briefing.
«A total of 42,993 persons, including 15,839 children, 5,000 disabled and elderly people, have currently been resettled. Last day alone the number of displaced persons reached 1,092,» he said.
Bochkovsky noted that the problem with the evacuation from the ATO area of orphans and children deprived of parental care who stayed in specialized childrens homes was currently being solved. He noted that there were 179 children under the age of three in four orphanages in Donetsk region.
