Petrenko: Government elaborated 10 anti-corruption steps

On July 2 meeting, the Ukrainian Cabinet adopted a package of anti-corruption measures, Government Portal says referring to the Ukrainian Minister of Justice Paul Buchanan report within a briefing at the Government House.
Thus, in particular, the Cabinet approved a draft Law to approve the anti-corruption strategy for the next three years; this draft Law is to be directed to the Parliament.
Besides, Buchanan also said the draft Law had been developed by the Ukrainian Ministry of Justice in cooperation with a number of the Ukrainian public organizations.
«This is a systemic document that provides clear legislative initiatives and steps to combat corruption - that are to be approved by the Parliament, which must thereupon take joint political responsibility with the Government and the President institute as soon as this draft Law becomes a Law,» Petrenko stressed.
In addition, the Minister said the Government had approved the first steps to combat corruption in the next six months.
«It goes about the 10 priorities which we plan to implement within the next six months. The document was elaborated together with representatives of the Ukrainian civil society and international organizations, including the Council of Europe experts and GRECO organization,» Petrenko admitted.
«So, we hope that after having made these 10 steps Ukraine will overcome the greatest evil which hinders its reforms and progress towards the EU,» Petrenko summed up.
