G7 supports Ukraine's sovereignty, warns Russia of more sanctions

The Group of Seven countries have supported Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and warned Russia of serious consequences if the situation escalates, according to the Hague Declaration, which was adopted by the G7 leaders in The Hague on March 24, NRCU reports.
The document notes that international law prohibits the acquisition of part or all of another state’s territory «through coercion or force.» We condemn the illegal referendum held in Crimea in violation of Ukraine’s constitution. We also strongly condemn Russia’s illegal attempt to annex Crimea in contravention of international law and specific international obligations. We do not recognize either," the G7 leaders said. In this regard, they reaffirmed that Russia’s actions "will have significant consequences.
"The G7 leaders welcomed Russia’s support for the OSCE special monitoring mission to Ukraine, calling it «a step in the right direction.»
