Ukraine, Hungary activates agricultural cooperation

Ukraine and Hungary expressed interest in cooperation in the exchange of seed material and the development of new crop varieties, Ukraines agriculture minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk said at a meeting with Hungarys rural development minister, Dr. Sandor Fazekas, ForUm reports referring to UKRINFORM.
The parties expressed interest in working towards sharing seed materials and creating joint hybrids and varieties of crops.
The meeting covered such promising areas of cooperation between Ukraine and Hungary as export/import of breeding (genetic) resources of meat and milk cattle, sheep, horses, and poultry products.
In 2012, trade in agricultural products between Ukraine and Hungary compared to 2011 increased by 25% and amounted to 246.3 million USD. The amount of export of Ukrainian goods increased by 16% and amounted to 61.4 million USD.
