Ukraine may count on IMF credit at USD 1.5 billion
26.10.2011 12:04 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
It may be possible even without raising tariffs for gas for population and communal heat companies. This opinion was expressed by member of the Supervisory Council of the Institute of Energy Research Yuriy Korolchuk in his comments on a visit of the IMF mission to Ukraine.
«Even if a compromise is not reached on the issue of gas tariffs, Ukraine may count on getting a part of the credit to the amount of USD 1.5 billion,» the expert believes. According to him, this step on the part of the IMF may be as «thanks for carrying out the pension reform.» In addition, according to the expert, new factors appeared in negotiations with the IMF: gas talks with Russia and the issue of joint Ukrainian-Russian-European management of the gas transportation system of Ukraine.
