Ukraine intends to introduce compulsory ecological audit for industrial enterprises
17.08.2011 10:04 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
According to Minister Mykola Zlochevsky, Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry of Ukraine is planning to introduce a compulsory ecological audit for industrial enterprises in 2012.
«I am convinced that this initiative will not meet any resistance on the part of owners of industrial enterprises, since the matter concerns, in particular, production security. For instance, if the ecological audit was held at all the countrys coal enterprises, we will manage to avoid many accidents, due to which miners have been killed,» the Minister said. Since 2013, 50% of enterprises allocations to the State Environmental Protection Fund will remain at disposal of ecological tax payers. Consequently, just the ecological audit will show main problems, which should be solved by enterprises at the expense of those funds.
