Argentine April soy crushing up 0.8 pct yr/yr
03.06.2011 10:39 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
Argentine soy-crushing
edged 0.8 percent
higher in April
from April 2010 to
3.7 million tonnes,
the government
said in its latest
monthly report.
Argentina is the
worlds top supplier
of soyoil and
soymeal and the third-biggest exporter of unprocessed
beans.
Soy processing fell for almost a year due to the poor,
drought-hit harvest of the 2008/09 season, but improved
weather lifted 2009/10 soy output to a record 52.7 million
tonnes, according to government estimates.
In April, Argentina produced 721,104 tonnes of soyoil, or 2.1 percent more than in the same month last year, the report
said. Soymeal production rose 1.7 percent to 2.9 million
tonnes.
