Doug Griffin for his career-long efforts to bring the benefits of product innovation, increased after-market support and distribution effectiveness to farmers throughout the world. Griffin, who is responsible for AGCOs global brand management and corporate marketing, will be presented the Distinguished Agriculture Alumni Award from the universitys College of Agriculture on April 1, 2011. Jay Akridge, Glenn W. Born and raised on a corn, soybean and livestock farm in Central Indiana, Griffin graduated as an agricultural engineer from Purdue University in 1990. «My interest in improving farm equipment--so farmers can be more efficient and farms more profitable while helping to make the food supply more reliable--began with my own experience on the farm. That interest expanded into a lifetime pursuit by my years at Purdue,» Griffin said. «I am grateful to Purdue University for this award and to the colleagues, dealers and farmers I have been able to work with to bring these benefits to the vital business of agriculture.»
In a career that spans more than 24 years, Griffin led the development and introduction of rubber-track technology on farm tractors, raised the level of farmers expectations of after-market support and led the growth of AGCO into a significant innovator and supplier of modern farm equipment in North America. He is a member of Alpha Gamma Rho agricultural-based professional fraternity and serves on the FFA Board of Directors, along with many other volunteer capacities. Currently, he works to further develop and communicate the benefits AGCO products and services provided to farmers, and ultimately to consumers, throughout the world.
A reception will be held at the Purdue Memorial Unions West Faculty Lounge, followed by the presentation of the award at Fowler Hall in Stewart Center.
