Ukraine, EU to create a national database on groundwater problems

As of this week, at the Ukrainian State Service of Geology and Subsoil office, there was a meeting of the Service Acting Chairman Oleg Kyryliuk with the international experts of the project «Water Initiative of the European Union Plus for the Eastern Partnership» Andreas Shaidelder and Christophe Letter, Government Portal reports.
Within the meeting, Kyryliuk assured international experts that the State Service of Geology and Subsoil is ready to cooperate with EU partners on the project «Water Initiative of the European Union Plus for the Eastern Partnership», since this project aims to help develop a management plan for the Dnipro river basin area, in order to improve the ecological state of the basin area waters.
It is to be admitted, the project main task is to assist the countries of the Eastern Partnership, including Ukraine, in approving or approximating of the Water Framework Directive and related directives, as well as asist in their implementation. The project experts will provide Ukrainian with recommendations and technical support , assure quality control and conduct structured training.
