Ukraine expands geography of agriculture exports

Exports of agricultural products in 2012 will make up $ 17 billion, acting agrarian policy and food minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk told yesterday a briefing after the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, ForUm correspondent reports.
According to him, the agribusiness industry sector also shows a positive balance of trade, and by the end 2012 it will amount to $ 10 billion.
Prysiazhniuk noted that export of Ukrainian agricultural products is distributed as follows: Asian countries 33.1%, EU countries 25.2%, CIS countries 22%, African countries -18.6%. «This year, we have exported agricultural products by 3% more in the EU than in the CIS countries. Although, the volume of exports to the CIS countries has increased,» he stressed.
In addition, according to the acting minister, Ukraine has expanded geography of its agricultural products exports, in particular, the country has entered the markets of Japan, Taiwan, Switzerland, UAE and South Africa. «First of all, Ukraine exports crop production,» he said.
Prysiazhniuk also stressed that Ukrainian farmers are planning to enter USA and China markets with domestic corn.
