Portugal adopts austerity budget
28.11.2012 09:31 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The Portuguese parliament has adopted the toughest, according to the finance minister, in the country’s history budget for 2013, says Voice of Russia referring to ITAR-TASS.
This was possible owing to votes of the ruling coalition that consists of the conservative Social-Democratic Party and Peoples Party.
The opposition, including Socialists voted against the draft budget submitted by the government led by Pedro Passos Coelho that significantly cut government expenditures, including for social needs and provides for increasing taxes.
According to the leader of Portuguese Socialists Jose Seguro, the draft budget is another concession to the troika of creditors and does not take into account the aspiration of the country’s people.
