Ukraine reaches significant progress to stabilize financial and economic situation

Ukraine has made considerable progress in implementing reforms and stabilizing the financial and economic situation, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said on Monday at a meeting with a delegation of U.S. senators.
«On Friday an IMF mission was working in Kyiv, which noted an outstanding progress in stabilizing the financial and economic situation in Ukraine and carrying out reforms,» the head of government said. According to him, the government has managed to improve fiscal discipline. Now, the budget deficit is around 3 percent. At the same time for 4 months of 2012 inflation stood at 0.7 percent. In this context, Azarov recalled that the previous government in 2010 has left a budget deficit at 16 percent and inflation at 24 percent. The sides also focused on the socio-economic development of Ukraine, fuel and energy sector, and bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and the U.S. «Our relationship with the United States is of strategic nature. And we do everything that we have agreed on with the U.S. government,» Azarov summed up.
