EU, Ukraine confirm intention to initiate Association Agreement in March

Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryshchenko and EU representatives during a meeting of Foreign Ministers of Visegrad Four countries, Baltic countries, Eastern Partnership and Denmark confirmed intentions to initial the Association Agreement until the end of Q1this year. The meeting took place Monday in Prague, the MFA press service informs.
As the Foreign Ministry noted, participants in the event paid a special attention to preparation of the Road Map of Eastern Partnership, which will determine priority goals in the context of bilateral relations among the EU and partner countries and multisided dimension of the Initiative until 2013. Hryshchenko outlined approaches of the Ukrainian party to contents of the Road Map and emphasized importance of strengthening the role of Eastern Partnership as a practical instrument for support of reforms in partner countries. The Foreign Minister of Ukraine noted that a principle of the renewed European neighborhood policy should be aimed at support of implementation of the future Association Agreement and fulfillment of the Action Plan for liberalization of the visa regime between Ukraine and the EU. In Prague, Hryshchenko also held a bipartite meeting with EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mamedianov and Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Paet, Trade and Investment Minister of Denmark, presiding in the EU, Pia Olsen Dyhr. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister also participated in a meeting of Foreign Ministers of GUAM participating countries, during which Azerbaijan presented priorities of its presidency in this organization in 2012.
