Expert: Cheese prices could be reduced in Ukraine
28.02.2012 17:14 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The extension by the Russian Federal Service on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being Surveillance (Rospotrebnadzor) of a list of Ukrainian enterprises that have been barred from importing cheese to the Russian market will lead to a slight reduction in the prices of these products and raw milk in the domestic market.
Such an opinion was expressed by Chairman of the Board of Directors of Milkiland-Ukraine Anatoliy Yurkevych at a press conference on Monday. «As for cheeses, it will be a short-term reduction in the sale of the remaining cheese that was prepared for sale on the territory of the Russian Federation,» the expert said. He said that domestic purchasing prices for milk have started declining since mid-February in the regions where there are three dairy companies whose products have been barred from sale in Russia by Rospotrebnadzor. Following the expansion of the «black» list of cheese makers, the price of milk will begin to decline in other regions, Yurkevych said.
