Russian embassy in Kyiv will deliver a proposition on renewal of gas talks to the Ministry of energy and coal industry, Russian ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Zurabov told a press conference, ForUm correspondent reports.
«I know that Russian embassy in Ukraine has got a letter from Russian Energy Ministry on renewal of gas talks. We intend to deliver this letter to the authorities of the Urkaines Energy Ministry in the nearest future,» Zurabov noted.
According to the ambassador, the letter arrived this morning, and Zurabov plans to meet Ukraines energy minister Yuri Boiko to deliver the letter officially. «I dont know the content of the letter, but can say that the matter concerns Russias initiative to renew gas talks,» the diplomat said.
«Dialogue between Ukraine and Russia on this issue is not in its active stage, as Russia is actively engaged into the election process. With all respect to the importance of the bilateral relations, we just do not have time to consider issues of daily agenda. As far as I am informed, Russias authorities charged Duma speaker Naryshkin to hold meetings with President Viktor Yanukovych and PM Mykola Azarov to discuss bilateral relations at the governmental level, including the problem of gas cooperation,» the ambassador informed.
