Sugar production 42% up

Sugar mills in Ukraine as of November 28, 2011 have produced 2.07 million tons of sugar from beets of the new harvest, 41.8% more compared with the same date last year, National Sugar Association Ukrtsukor said in a statement.
According to Ukrtsukor, sugar beets as of November 28 are being processed by 34 enterprises, whereas at the same date last year 20. The mills received 17 million tons of beets, of which 15.56 million tons are already processed. The Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food forecasts that this season Ukraine will produce 2.12.2 million tons of beet sugar after 1.54 million tons last season. The capacity of Ukrainian sugar market is estimated by experts at 1.82 million tons a year.
