State agency on fishing industry toughens responsibility for poaching

The Cabinet of Minister of Ukraine has adopted penalty tariffs for illegal fishing, chairman of the State agency on fish industry Viktor Dronyk informed during the action on utilization of confiscated fishing equipment, ForUm correspondent reports.
«We have adopted a number of regulatory documents, and the Cabinet has adopted penalty tariffs for illegal fishing. If earlier poachers paid 34 hryvnias of fine for every illegally caught specimen of red-finned mullet or carp, now they will have to pay 800 hryvnias, for a pike perch earlier 51 hryvnias, now 510 hryvnias. Thats why, from the next week poaching becomes unprofitable,» he said.
According to him, for the last 10 months inspectors of the department have revealed 104 thousand of violations, detained 94 thousand offenders with fining them on total amount of 8.3 million hryvnias and collected 112 thousand of illegal finishing equipment.
Today ForUms correspondent has witnessed an action on utilization of confiscated fishing equipment held by the State agency on fish industry. In particular, the department has pointedly burned harpoons, fish spears, electric fishing-rods, 20 km of fishing nets (market price for one net is 350 hryvnias).
