Over one million Zimbabweans need food aid
23.11.2011 08:44 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
More than a million people in Zimbabwe need food assistance between now and next March, according to the World Food Programme (WFP).
WFP warns that poor families and households with orphans and vulnerable children are most at risk.
The Agency and its partners are providing assistance in the form of cash transfers and food vouchers, but they need $42 million to continue their work.
WFP says although the situation has improved from what it was two years ago, when seven million people needed food assistance, not everyone has enough food today.
WFP’s Deputy Director in Zimbabwe, Simon Cammelbeeck, told Derrick Mbatha that there is also an income crisis in the southern African country.
